Dedicated to making high-end artisanal tapware that celebrates the tactile pleasure of metal, Sussex has teamed up with celebrated Adelaide jeweller Cassandra Mamone to create highly exclusive pieces of diamond-set tapware.
“In working with Cassandra we discovered a kindred spirit, and the results we achieved are not only beautiful, but a source of pride for both our companies” explains Sussex Director Vanessa Katsanevakis. “My father the founder of Sussex, was a watchmaker and jeweller himself, so craftsmanship and beauty is a deep principal of any piece we create”.
Utilising Sussex’s architectural Calibre collection, and inspired by the natural glamour of evening twilight, diamonds have been arranged to create a star constellation atop each tap. The result is an elegant piece for any interior setting.
“The creative challenge of setting diamonds in taps was so compelling. I thought Vanessa’s proposal was exciting and original” says Cassandra Mamone. “The challenge was to make it work on both an aesthetic and technical level.”
The pair embarked on a trial period to learn how best to arrange and set diamonds in brass and have them finished perfectly at the other end of the electroplating and polishing process.
Sussex sees the taps as the ultimate in luxury fittings, and illustrates how everyday objects can become pieces of art.
As another feature of customisation that Sussex offers, the client can choose any precious stone setting in consultation with Cassandra Mamone.
The diamond collection from Sussex Taps and Cassandra Mamone Fine Jewellery will be available internationally from May 2017.
