IN CONVERSATION...WITH CASSANDRA MAMONE

At Cassandra Mamone we are pretty lucky to work with a wonderful team of inspiring women. One woman that inspires all of us is our founder and designer, Cassandra Mamone. Today, we're celebrating International Women's Day by shining the spotlight on the designer herself, Cassandra Mamone. Meet the woman behind the brand.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE JEWELLERY INDUSTRY?

I've been in the jewellery industry for almost 19 years, this is including studying jewellery. I started with bridal jewellery and sterling silver, then I found my niche in designing unique engagement rings. I released my first fine jewellery collection in 2013 and the rest is history!

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR DESIGN INSPIRATION?

I often think about what I would like to wear day to day and the piece that I'd like to design for myself. Being a female, I add that creative touch as I know what women want. I'm also inspired by my travels - people will notice this as soon as they look at my collections.

HOW MUCH HAS YOUR BUSINESS GROWN SINCE ITS INCEPTION?

Dramatically. I’ve now got a team of four in Adelaide and I've got a second studio in Melbourne, and clients can now purchase directly from our website. We have virtual consult and fittings, and our following has grown on social media platforms.

WHEN DO YOU FEEL THE MOST CONFIDENT?

When I’m at work designing beautiful engagement rings, on set of a shoot, and brainstorming new concepts with my wonderful team.

BIGGEST 'PINCH ME' MOMENT.

My biggest 'pinch me' moment would be Carrie Bickmore wearing our jewels to the Logies back in 2016 and winning. Secondly, it would be realising that Jordin Sparks and Chloe Morello follow 'Cassandra Mamone' on Instagram, and thirdly, my very first international campaign which was shot in Kefalonia, Greece.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST POPULAR PIECES?

Definitely our Vino Engagement Ring has been a rising star from the start. The Oval Elegance ring has been clients' favourite to date. We've also been seeing a lot of our clients choosing morganites.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ROLE MODELS?

My parents are definitely my role models, they've instilled good values and hard work in me.

ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO START A BUSINESS?

Just do it! Feel the fear and do it anyways. Speak to people that have done something that you want to do. Read and put yourself in a positive mind frame. And just go for it.
