Chayce came to us to create the Foglia ring – a marquise diamond with pear side stones in yellow gold – a piece as unique as Nicola and Chayce’s story. From high school sweethearts to parents, and now planning their future wedding, they share how the proposal unfolded and what made this moment unforgettable.

HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?

We met in school and started a relationship in year 12. Chayce was then drafted to Adelaide FC in November, and so we did one year of long distance from 2019-2020, before Nicola moved up to Adelaide. We purchased our first home together in 2022, where we reside with our son, Finley, who is nearly 1 and our 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Juno. 

WHAT DREW YOU TO CASSANDRA MAMONE FOR THE DESIGN OF YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING? 

Chayce had seen some other pieces you had created and was drawn to the unique yet timeless and classic qualities. It is such a monumental time in our lives, and so he wanted a personalised experience with a jeweller he trusted wholeheartedly.

We were going out for dinner for Nicola's birthday. While we were out for dinner, Nicola's sister, Kelsey, along with some of our friends, cleared all the furniture from our back living room and filled it with candles, roses and pictures of us. We returned to the house and Chayce walked me through all of our memories together and proposed! 

TELL US ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS OF YOUR RING, WHAT THE PROCESS WAS LIKE FOR YOU, AND WHAT YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF THE PIECE ARE. 

Nicola's ring is a marquise diamond in the centre, with two pear-shaped diamonds on either side, set in a yellow gold band with diamonds set into the band. The process was seamless. Chayce brought Nicola's sister, Kelsey, to help him design the ring, and he felt so comfortable with the whole process; all it took was one appointment to create the most perfect piece. Our favourite aspects are the unique yet classic nature of the piece. We have never seen another ring quite like it. Nicola has quite literally been stopped in public by people to compliment the ring. It is so elegant with the marquise and pear-shaped diamonds, and we love how they are set up off the band to showcase their beauty. 

DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANS YET?

As we already have our son, we are thinking of planning something lowkey. Nothing is set in stone as yet, but we are thinking of a small ceremony with our closest family and friends in our home state, Tasmania.
