ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: ALYSSA & DARREN

Alyssa and Darren's love story started 3 years ago on Bumble, followed by a month of chatting and the rest as they say is history. Darren worked closely with our design team to create Alyssa's dream engagement ring. Cassandra designed a stunning Oval Morganite ring with pear diamonds on the side of the ring. We can't get enough of this breathtaking piece and so excited for the next chapter of their lives. Read more about their gorgeous proposal story below. 

HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?

The most romantic way to meet someone in this modern day world we live in - on Bumble back in 2019. We had been speaking for about a month and then caught up for brunch one morning and the rest is history.

WHAT DREW YOU TO CASSANDRA MAMONE FOR THE DESIGN OF YOUR ENGAGEMENT PIECE?

I had been following Cassandra Mamone on Instagram for awhile and loved how Cass creates such beautiful unique pieces. Added bonus, is the company is here Adelaide and we love to support local businesses.

Darren told me he was playing golf in the Barossa with a mate, so a friend and I thought we would go to some wineries and then met the boys for lunch once they had finished their game. As we arrived at our first winery Yalumba, I walked around the corner to see Darren standing on the steps under the clock tower with rose petals surrounding him.  He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him - I don’t think he had finished asking me and I said yes of course!

I was in utter shock as to what had just happened and the day had only just begun as Darren had planned a whole day full of surprises.

We had a wine flight at Yalumba in their cellar door, followed by a picnic in their stunning grounds.

A chauffeur then picked us up and took us to Turkey Flat winery which is a personal favourite of ours, where we had another wine flight and enjoyed the picturesque scenery.

The next location I thought was lunch but we ended up at Barossa Helicopters. We had a 20 minute helicopter flight that took us over the Whispering Wall and many beautiful vineyards. As the helicopter got lower to the ground I could see we were getting closer and closer to a beautiful brick venue surrounded by vines, where our pilot told us this was St Hugo winery. Darren knew I had been wanting to go to St Hugo for ages and this where we had a lovely lunch filled with more wine.

We were then driven home to celebrate our news with family and friends.  

TELL US ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS OF YOUR RING, WHAT WAS THE PROCESS LIKE FOR YOU, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF PIECE?

The ring is 18ct rose gold with an oval 2.69ct morganite in the centre and two pear diamonds either side, set in a cathedral setting.

The process for Darren in his words was easy, informative and very helpful. Darren booked a consultation online and meet with the amazing Kass in person, who took him through all the different settings and stones he could choose from. I had described to him the look that I liked but he did the rest, choosing the number of claws, size and colours.

My favourite aspect of my ring is definitely the morganite. I know morganites can really vary in colour and Darren pick the most perfect colour. I was also taken back by the size, as it is bigger than I thought it would be and I’m not mad about it haha.

DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANS YET?

We don’t have anything set in stone as yet but thinking end of 2023. Currently looking at venues and once we find our dream location everything else will fall into place.
