#SHESAIDYES: OLIVIA & LOCHLAINN
Lochlainn booked an appointment with us to create a beautiful oval morganite ring with a diamond halo, and the result was a piece as unique as their story. From the ring design to their upcoming wedding plans, they share their journey and what made their engagement so special.
HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?
We met on Tinder back in 2018. After a few weeks of chatting, I decided to delete my profile, but not before sending Lochy one last message with my phone number, hoping he’d keep in touch. What I didn’t know was that deleting your account also deletes your message history from the other person’s inbox. So, Lochy never saw the message or got my number. Thankfully, Tinder had just introduced a new feature where you could link your Instagram account. Lochy, already having done a bit of a profile stalk (as you do), found me on Instagram and sent a last-ditch message to see if I still wanted to go on that date, and we have been together ever since!
WHAT DREW YOU TO CASSANDRA MAMONE FOR THE DESIGN OF YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING?
I've been following the Cassandra Mamone Instagram page for a few years (even before I met Lochy), and I was always drawn to how unique and meaningful each piece was. Whether it was an engagement ring or a custom design, every item seemed to have a beautiful story behind it. I also loved that her work showcased a variety of stones and styles; there were so many stunning, creative options beyond the traditional, whilst still being classic and timeless.
SHARE WITH US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY.
We had a romantic long weekend booked at The Mouses Houses Rainforest Retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland, and I couldn't help but wonder if this might be the weekend we got engaged. On Friday, I was suspicious; it all felt a little too perfect. But the day came and went with no proposal. I held out hope for Saturday… still nothing. Then on Sunday, we went for a hike to the Natural Bridge, and I was so sure it would happen there. But again, no ring. On the drive back to our cabin, I finally let the idea go. I told myself to just enjoy the beautiful weekend for what it was, romantic and peaceful, and not be disappointed that I wouldn’t be leaving newly engaged. Later on Sunday, we went for a picnic lunch at a gorgeous lookout. As I was setting up our food, Lochy wandered over to check out a nearby shelter because it had just started to rain. When he came back, he walked toward me, got down on one knee, and proposed… right there in the rain. I said yes (of course!), and we quickly packed up our picnic and ran for cover, waiting for the rain to pass. Then it was back to our cozy cabin for wine by the fire and to call our families to share our news.
TELL US ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS OF YOUR RING, WHAT WAS THE PROCESS LIKE FOR YOU, AND WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF THE PIECE.
I (Lochy) was so nervous at the mere thought of buying a ring, let alone designing something. I knew nothing about jewellery, aside from the reference photos Liv had sent me of what she liked. But from the moment I jumped on a video call with Cassandra, I felt completely at ease. She broke everything down in a way that made send and explained all the jewellery lingo so I never felt out of my depth. The whole team was incredibly supportive and communicative throughout the process, which made planning the proposal so much smoother.
DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANS YET?
We are getting married in May 2025 in Brisbane. All of our plans are finalised and we are just in the exciting period of waiting until the big day arrives!
TESTIMONIALS?
Thank you to the entire Cassandra Mamone team. You have all been wonderful, in both the lead-up and designing process, as well as being incredible after the fact. We are so grateful that you are a part of our marriage story and I get compliments on the daily at how amazing my engagement ring is.
