WEDDING FEATURE: VANESSA & BILLIE
Vanessa and Billie got married at a beautiful barn in Sellicks Hill back in January 2022. We had the pleasure of designing Vanessa's beautiful engagement ring as well as both of their wedding bands. Vanessa has always loved coloured stones and so Billie proposed with a custom green sapphire Pear diamond ring. As for their wedding bands, Vanessa opted for our Single Bead Ring and a titanium ring for Billie. Today, the lovebirds are sharing their story and photos from their wedding day.
HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?
I (originally from Adelaide), accepted a teaching job opportunity in country SA, heading up to Hawker in the Flinders Ranges back in 2014. Whilst teaching in Hawker, I joined the Orrorroo Netball and Football club. Billie was born and raised a country boy in Orroroo, and so one fateful night at the clubrooms, after the games, we started chatting.
After a couple of years living together in country SA, we decided to move back to Adelaide and have settled ourselves up with a house, our beautiful labradoodle dog Hugo, and now enjoying married life!
WHERE & WHEN DID YOU GET MARRIED - TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY?
We got married at the beautiful Barn 1890, Sellicks Hill, on the 8th January 2022. The lead up to our wedding day was filled with mixed emotions due to positive COVID cases in the family a week out of the wedding date, restrictions with COVID (rearranging set-up arrangements at the venue, no dancing etc.), my original make-up artist tested positive a few days out, Billie's barber tested positive a few days out...It was one thing after another!
However, through all the adversity, it really made us appreciate our day all the more, once we got there! It really put things in perspective for us. Most of our family and friends could make the event, and we were lucky enough to have lovely weather over the weekend. The day ran smoothly and we both felt so happy!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING RINGS. WHAT WAS THE PROCESS LIKE FOR YOU? WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF THE PIECE?
Billie knew I loved coloured stones and had always dreamed of coloured engagement ring. Billie worked with Veronica to create a beautiful pear shaped green sapphire set in yellow gold. Billie said Veronica was great to work with and answered any questions he had.
I love how unique my ring is - I still catch myself adoring it years later. I then chose a 13x5 point diamond wedding band in a scalloped style single bead setting. Billie chose a titanium ring (as he is a tradie, and does not wear his wedding band day to day).
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY?
We both LOVED our ceremony, it was such a special time for us to share our vows and be with each other at the altar. I teach with the lady who married us (celebrant; Tennielle Nuske) and she made the ceremony so personable, funny and engaging for us and our guests.
Billie says his favourite part was after all the 'official' happenings of the day were over and he could relax and enjoy the night, ha.
ANY PARTICULAR HIGHLIGHTS?
Celebrating with family and friends under the stars and party lights - eating delicious food (Cargo Catering Co), drinking prosecco, unfortunately no dancing :( but the night was so relaxed and the atmosphere was beautiful nonetheless.
Another highlight would be our experience with our photographer Dan Evans. He made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and was cracking jokes to make us laugh and capture such precious, happy moments.
WHERE DID YOU GO ON YOUR HONEYMOON?
We decided to stay local for our honeymoon and headed to Kangaroo Island for a week soon after the wedding. We visited beautiful beaches, national parks and drove around the island. Our secluded accommodation, Stowaway, provided us with amazing views, kangaroos on our doorstep, spa, sauna - everything we could have hoped for to unwind and relax!
