ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: T & J

Our gorgeous clients, T & J met through mutual friends just out of high school. Sparks flew during their first meeting and they've been together ever since. HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?

Back before the online dating days, we actually met through mutual friends just out of high school. Our first meeting was at Nandos for lunch and the conversation flowed for over three hours!

WHAT DREW YOU TO CASSANDRA MAMONE FOR THE DESIGN OF YOUR ENGAGEMENT PIECE?

T: I knew J loved her pieces and I heard her mentioned Cass's name a few times. I stalked through her Instagram to see which jewellery designers she followed and found Cassandra Mamone there. The ring was an easy choice as I knew she would love a classic, timeless ring with a halo design.

J: From my perspective, it was a perfect proposal beginning with a surprise shopping day (with cash for new clothes, of course!), followed by checking into a beautiful hotel with stunning city views and dinner on the Southbank. He proposed in the hotel room in front of the city lights and I loved how private and intimate it was.

T: From my perspective it was a bit stressful, we had an amazing weekend planned away at Daylesford and I thought that would be the perfect time and place for the big question. I had ordered the ring by this stage and it was all set to arrive well before the trip. Unfortunately due to some things beyond anyone's control, the making of the ring was delayed and I was told it would not arrive before our trip. I was speaking with Cass and her team about other ideas, and we floated the idea of using a sample ring or a simple plain band, but I decided to delay the question as I knew the ring I ordered was the perfect one.

So fast forward to a few weeks later, I was told that the ring would arrive early in the week, so I put together a spontaneous surprise weekend together and booked everything, praying the ring would arrive on time.

We were set to leave on Saturday morning, and by Thursday night the ring still hasn't arrived, needless to say I was stressing. The ring was being sent to my parents' house so Jaimi wouldn't see the delivery, and I had them on the look-out for the postie. By dinner time Friday it still hadn't been delivered and I had pretty much lost hope, but in the dying hours, at about 6:30pm that Friday night, I got a photo of my old man receiving the parcel from the postie. He was posing as if he had won an award! It cracked me up!

I picked it up that night and the next day all went off without a hitch. We both loved the ring and couldn't be happier. Cass and her team showered us with gifts to make up for the delays, so on top of her ring she has a few very special pieces of jewellery to go with it. It was stressful at the time, but in hindsight I love the story that came along with is, and I know Jaimi loved hearing about all the behind-the-scenes work that went into juggling it all.

TELL US ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS OF YOUR RING, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF THE PIECE?

I am absolutely obsessed with my ring! The Cushion Diamond Engagement ring was a perfect choice and I couldn't have picked it better myself. I love the classic yellow gold and the beautiful halo design. My favourite part is how unique the ring is and many people comment on it looking like a flower!

DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANS YET?

We are set to be married in December 2023 at a beautiful winery on the Mornington Peninsula. We have already purchased our wedding bands from Cass and are so looking forward to the big day!
