WEDDING CELEBRATIONS: KATE & ADAM
What do you get when you combine a milestone birthday, cowboy hats, and a whole lot of love? The answer: Kate & Adam's unforgettable surprise wedding on Saturday, 15th March 2025 — a day that was as dazzling as it was heartfelt. We had the honour of remodelling Kate's beautiful Sapphire Engagement Ring into a modern piece as well as creating their wedding bands. Read more about Kate and Adam's special day.
HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?
We met through work, I'm at the Entertainment Centre, and Adam worked for the Adelaide 36ers, who had moved their home games here.
WHERE & WHEN DID YOU GET MARRIED - TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY.
Saturday 15th March 2025 – it was my 40th birthday and a surprise wedding for our guests. It was also a themed milestone birthday - Rhinestone Rodeo!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING RINGS. WHAT WAS THE PROCESS LIKE FOR YOU? WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECTS OF THE PIECE?
My engagement ring was a redesigned piece from my grandma's collection, which she had received for her 40-year wedding anniversary from my grandpa and left to me. It holds a stunning light blue sapphire, which was her favourite colour. Cassandra was able to redesign it to make it more our style. Adam added 2 diamonds on either side - making it 3 and 3 to represent our new family dynamic joining together (Adam & 2 daughters + myself & 2 daughters).
The wedding ring is a simple gold band that, fortunately, Cassandra, Jemma and the team were able to do for us in under 4 weeks!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY?
The surprise to everyone, and the celebration afterwards, was truly special - it really lifted the party, but was also a lot more emotional than I expected! A lot of happy tears and sparkling cowboy hats. Not something I expected to say about our wedding day.
ANY PARTICULAR HIGHLIGHTS?
Just before the surprise ceremony, my best friend, who was our celebrant, had also organised a special guest performance by Hans (Matt Gillbertson) to celebrate my 40th, which was a surprise to me. So the night had many, many happy highlights!
ANY HONEYMOON PLANS?
Being a surprise wedding, it was impossible to organise a leave/honeymoon post the night. We may travel later this year. In the meantime, we are spending a weekend at Bird in Hand Winery.
TESTIMONIALS?
The whole team at Cassandra Mamone were a dream to work with, their individual creative process was so special to be a part of from start to finish. I thought being involved in the process before the proposal might have taken away the significance of the moment, but it truly only made it better. To have the opportunity to try on all styles and see what best suited was not only fun but also felt collaborative with Adam, too.
